What is the Double Bachelor's Degree in Law and International Relations?
The Double Bachelor's Degree in Law and International Relations at Comillas ICADE is a five-year on-campus programme (376 ECTS) taught in Spanish and English at the Alberto Aguilera Campus. This degree programme in law and international relations awards two official qualifications and trains legal professionals with a global outlook, equipped to work in multinational, diplomatic and institutional settings.
The curriculum combines acomprehensive legal education (civil, criminal, commercial, international and tax law) with the study of international politics, security, international organisations and diplomacy, including acompulsory second foreign language and the opportunity to undertake exchange programmes in the fourth year at universities in Europe, the Americas or Asia. With95 places, professional placements (which can be extended to 18 ECTS credits in the fifth year) and ICADE’s century-long history, graduates in Law and International Relations go on to join senior civil service posts, international consultancies, multinational law firms and international organisations.

Double Bachelor's Degree in Law and International Relations / GD-RI E-5 23
Structure:
The studies in the E-5 Program (Bachelor's Degree in Law and Bachelor's Degree in International Relations) have a total of 374 ECTS credits that are distributed over five academic years, at the end of which both official degrees are obtained. The course load of the different courses revolves around an average of approximately 75 credits per academic year.
As in the rest of the dual programs at ICADE, E-5 presents an innovative structure in the study plan, aimed at combining a guarantee of acquiring fundamental knowledge for each of the two Bachelor's Degree included in this dual degree, together with a margin of personalized course planning of their studies by students.
In this way, the first three years of the program are common to all students, who progress in a similar fashion in attaining the knowledge and fundamental skills of the Bachelor's Degree in Law, as well as the Bachelor's Degree in International Relations. During the final two years of the program, students are permitted to decide how to permanently complete their studies with a certain degree of autonomy in choosing their credits.
For this purpose, during the 4th year of the E-5 Program, students can choose to continue their educational training at ICADE in both Bachelor's Degrees, or to enroll for the first semester at a Faculty of Law or International Relations at one of the numerous Universities with which ICADE has exchange agreements. In the latter case, the subjects of the 4th Year are redistributed between the two semesters in order to optimize the recognition of the courses taken during the semester of exchange and to ensure adequate continuity in learning during the second semester. In the same way, during the first semester of the 5th academic year of the E-5 program, students can choose to carry out an extended period of internship (thus extending their internships from 6 to 18 ECTS credits), or to carry out an exchange in Law or in International Relations, or to enlarge their educational training at ICADE.

The ideal candidate for the Bachelor's Degree in Law and the Bachelor's Degree in International Relations is an individual with a high level of intellectual ability, who stands out for their maturity, capacity for abstract reasoning, critical thinking and strong teamwork skills; they should also be proficient in languages, particularly English. They are characterised by their intellectual curiosity and interest in international affairs. They must be capable of acquiring the skills and competences required in interdisciplinary settings, of understanding the complex reality of international relations, and of excelling in providing legal advice in the international arena. Furthermore, candidates must be aware of the high level of commitment to their studies required by a dual-degree programme and be prepared to undertake a heavy workload throughout the five years of university study.
