In response to the exponential growth the Fintech industry is experiencing due to the adoption of disruptive technologies and the demand for personalised products, the Master’s Degree in Financial Technologies: Payments and Digital Banking, an independent degree programme offered by the Higher Technical School of Engineering (ICAI). The programme addresses the digitalisation of the financial sector and equips students with critical skills in the application of specific technologies (AI, blockchain, big data, algorithmic trading, etc.) in areas of the banking business such as mobile banking and digital payments.
The collaboration between the Higher Technical School of Engineering (ICAI), BBVA and NTT Data has made it possible to assemble a distinguished Faculty comprising the most prestigious professionals in the financial technology sector, who complement the excellence of the teaching staff at ICAI and the ICADE Faculty of Economics and Business Studies.

Graduates of the Master’s programme in Financial Technologies, Payments and Digital Banking have a range of degree opportunities in the field of Fintech. These degree paths cover a broad spectrum, ranging from roles in financial analysis to the development of cutting-edge financial applications. In all these roles, graduates will be able to effectively apply the knowledge acquired throughout the Program’s various modules. This includes the ability to analyse financial data, understand and apply disruptive business models, and master advanced technologies such as big data, artificial intelligence and blockchain.
- Chief Digital Banking Officer, Chief Data Officer, Head of Business Discipline: graduates of the Master’s programme can work on the planning, development and implementation of digital transformation strategies within financial institutions.

- Risk Manager, Risk Analyst: This role would focus on identifying and managing the financial risks to which companies or banking institutions are exposed. They would utilise data analysis tools and risk models, as well as financial regulation and artificial intelligence and blockchain technologies.

Each class has a form tutor, whose role is to help students settle into the class and ensure they perform well academically. Furthermore, at Comillas, the teaching system is characterised, amongst other things, by personalised support and a close, ongoing relationship between teachers and students.
Comillas’ teaching system is specifically geared towards engaging with the realities of businesses, institutions and organisations, as well as professional practice. The Degree Guidance, Work Placements and Employment Service (OPE) is responsible for helping students secure work placements related to their studies in order to enrich their education. In the 2022–23 academic year, 7,101 student work placements in companies were arranged.
The Career Guidance, Work Placements and Employment Service (OPE) is the university’s service dedicated to providing information, guidance and support to help recent graduates enter the labour market and to assist Comillas graduates in planning their degree paths; To this end, it offers an online tool that connects candidates directly with 8,302 companies with which Comillas has a relationship. During the 2022–23 academic year, 1,542 job vacancies were processed. Of the total number of graduates from the class of 2021, 92 per cent are in employment or pursuing further studies within six months of completing their studies.
