Approximately 500 international exchange students began their courses at the Universidad Pontificia de Comillas with a “Welcome Day” at the Alberto Aguilera Campus, which was attended by the Vice-Rector of Academic Strategy, Innovation and Internationalisation, Paloma Bilbao; the Director of the International Relations Service, Arturo Varona; Pablo Carbajosa, a member of the Comillas Culture Unit; and Hugo Galera, of the Association "Comillas Unity".
After a welcome speech by the Vice-Rector, Arturo Varona, the work carried out by the International Relations Service was explained as well as how this service is present to support international students during their stay at the university.
Pablo Carbajosa provided details on the activities offered by “Comillas Cultural”, and Hugo Galera introduced the Unity Student Association, which has planned activities, trips and other events for international students since 2014.
These exchange students, who will remain at Comillas for a semester or for an entire year, come from 38 different countries, although 40% of them are from countries which are members of the European Union and participate in the Erasmus+ Program of the European Commission. All of the rest are from universities located outside the EU, with which Comillas has signed bilateral agreements.
This Orientation Day was also attended by four Spanish exchange students from the Universities of Ramón Llull, Deusto and Loyola, who are studying at Comillas through the SICUE Exchange Programme under exchange agreeements between Spanish universities.
