María Elena Valiente, new director of the Centro de Enseñanza Superior Alberta Giménez (CESAG)
Takes over from Julia Violero after ten years in office
9 September 2025
María Elena Valiente López de Briñas will take over the direction of the Centro de Enseñanza Superior Alberta Giménez (CESAG), attached to Comillas Pontifical University, as of this academic year. She will take over from Dr. Julia Violero Álvarez, who has been in charge of the centre for the last ten years, leading a period of great growth in academic quality, number of degrees and student body.
Valiente is a member of the Congregación Pureza de María and has a solid background in education. She has previously directed the congregation's centres in Madrid and Tenerife, and has an outstanding academic background: she holds a degree in Modern History from the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB), a postgraduate degree in School Management from CESAG and is currently waiting to defend her doctoral thesis on the Mallorcan bishop Bernat Nadal, in the Comparative, Political and Social History programme at the UAB. She is also involved in research projects focusing on the role of women in evangelisation in the Iberian world.
Julia Violero Álvarez, for her part, will be director of identity and mission at the Congregación Pureza de María, based in Madrid, where she will continue her work in the service of education.
