The Community of Madrid has awarded one of its Infancia 2024 Awards to Salomé Adroher Biosca, lecturer at the Faculty of Law (Comillas ICADE) at Comillas Pontifical University, for her outstanding work in the defence of the rights of children and families. The award was presented at the ceremony held in Arganda del Rey on the World Children's Day, which was attended by the entities and media committed to the welfare of children who received awards in this edition.

With extensive experience behind her, Adroher is the author of numerous publications and has held different positions at the university. She was Director of the University Institute of Family Studies from 1997 to 2004, and Vice-Dean of International and Institutional Relations at the Faculty of Law from 2008 to 2012. She currently directs the Abanca-Afundación/ICADE Chair of Longevity, Economy and Society and the CUIDAR Chair in family and care for children and adolescents in protection. Outside Comillas, she has also held positions of responsibility such as General Director of Social Services for Families and Children of the Spanish Government, promoting key legislative advances in child protection.

The lecturer assures that this recognition "makes visible the work of almost 30 years at Comillas in the area of the family and childhood", highlighting the university's commitment to the irreplaceable role of the family in the well-being of children and the subsidiary public responsibility for their protection. She also points out that the award comes at a special time, "at the end of my career at this great university, for which I feel very grateful", although she assures that she will continue to collaborate in causes linked to fundamental human rights after her retirement in January 2026.

Adroher values very positively all the legislative advances made in the last two decades, such as the 2015 and 2021 Laws on child protection, and the recent Law on Childhood of the Community of Madrid (2023), although she warns that challenges remain, such as the high proportion of children in care who live in residences instead of foster families. "To all these children, who are still waiting for their right to live in a family to be respected, I would like to dedicate this award," she concluded.
