The Campus Arrupe at Comillas Pontifical University hosted a round table dedicated to analysing the challenges and opportunities posed by artificial intelligence in employment, from a multidisciplinary perspective. The meeting brought together leading professionals from the fields of business, law, industry and humanities.
Participating in the conversation were Ainhoa Alonso, Chief Data and AI Officer at Santander Payment Solutions; Lucía Halty, Director of the Chair of Innovation and Digital Mental Health at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences (Comillas CIHS); Íñigo Navarro, Co-Director of the Garrigues-ICADE Legaltech Observatory; and Antonio Prieto, partner at EY, specialising in artificial intelligence and data transformation in the energy and utilities sector.
The meeting, moderated by José Ganga, Deputy Director of the Communication and Institutional Relations Service, began with a speech by the Vice-Rector for Faculty, Research and Artificial Intelligence, Mariano Ventosa, who highlighted the effort Comillas is making to integrate generative artificial intelligence in a transversal manner in all its studies. During his speech, Ventosa underlined the university's commitment to specific training in AI, aligned with current professional needs and with a solid ethical reflection.
Throughout the round table, the speakers agreed that artificial intelligence is already profoundly transforming organisations and their processes, but stressed that the real differential value will lie in the people capable of applying it with criteria, critical thinking and a human approach. In this sense, it was emphasised that AI does not replace talent, but rather redefines professional profiles and separates repetitive execution tasks from those that require analysis, judgement and responsibility.
Among the key skills that will shape the future of employment, participants highlighted the hybridisation of knowledge, the ability to adapt, continuous learning and critical thinking, as well as the importance of a responsible use of technology, especially in sensitive areas such as legal or mental health.
