Camino de Santiago 2025: an experience of faith, friendship and university community
A pilgrimage that united students in a journey full of reflection and discovery
8 September 2025
From 21 to 27 August, a group of students from Comillas embarked on the adventure of the Portuguese Camino de Santiago, one of the activities organised by Comillas Comunidad as part of the Welcome Week 2025. What began as a pilgrimage became an experience that combined faith, friendship and the discovery of the university community in a very special environment.

Six students from the Master's Degree in Industrial Engineering and three new students, accompanied by two people in charge of Comillas Espiritualidad, began the route in Tui, crossing the Miño River from Portuguese lands.
Each day was a balance between moments of silence, prayer and personal reflection, with others of games, conversations and laughter that created a real feeling of family. The day ended with a Eucharist that gave meaning to what they had experienced; sometimes presided over by Lluis Salinas, SJ, and at other times shared with the local parishes, which added to the closeness and hospitality of the trip.
The arrival in Santiago, on Tuesday 26th, was undoubtedly the most exciting moment. In the Plaza del Obradoiro, the students received the Compostelana from the hands of Daniel Cuesta SJ, and participated in the Pilgrim's Eucharist in the Cathedral, sharing with dozens of pilgrims the emotion of being together before the Apostle.
It was a journey that was both personal and shared, where faith was united with friendship and university spirit, reminding us that at Comillas we also walk in community.
