The pair formed by Alba Wilson and Inés Pérez de Lema, both students of the Dual Degree in International Relations and Global Communication (RRIICOM), have won the eighth edition of the Pignatelli debating tournament, held on the Cantoblanco campus. In second place was the team formed by Adriana Pacios, from the 2nd year of Translation and Interpreting and Global Communication (TICOM) and Nicolás del Río Morales (RRIICOM).
The question of the debate, "Are we witnessing a definitive rupture between the USA and Europe due to the war in Ukraine", generated an interesting and intense exchange of ideas between the two teams, who had to defend opposing positions. As is traditional in this competition, the language of debate was English and the format was academic debate. This is a tournament that always deals with topics related to International Relations, but in which couples from all over the university can participate.
The jury was made up of Javier Gil, lecturer in International Relations; Javier Aznarte, lecturer in Debate at Cantoblanco, Alejandro Molina, coordinator of the Comillas Debate Club, and José Rufino Novo, head of Comillas Arte. For them, both pairs presented their arguments very clearly, but in the end it was the pair defending the argument in favour that won the day.
