Nine researchers from Comillas Pontifical University are among the 2% of the most influential researchers in the world, according to the ranking published, once again, by researchers from Stanford University. These good figures are the result of the high impact of the applied research carried out at Comillas, which is close to social transfer and internationalisation.
The lecturers at Comillas ICAI, María Seguí-Gómez, Pedro Linares, Luis Rouco, Carlos Batlle and Javier García-González appear on this list together with Francisco Ayala, who was until his death honorary president of the Hana and Francisco José Ayala Center for Science, Technology and Religion, also at Comillas ICAI, and together with the recently retired lecturers, Tomás Gómez, Mario Veiga Ferraz, affiliated to Comillas, and Ignacio Pérez - Arriaga.
With regard to the most cited scientists in 2024, five academics from Comillas head the ranking: Seyed Amir Mansouri, postdoctoral researcher at the Institute for Research in Technology (IIT) until 2025, Jaime Ruiz-Tovar, academic at the "San Juan de Dios" University School of Nursing and Physical Therapy, and Pedro Linares, Ignacio Pérez - Arriaga and Francisco Ayala, who double their appearance.
The Stanford University ranking is based on a standardised database that allows researchers to be ranked according to different citation indicators and classified by scientific area. The list takes into account the 200,000 best scientists in the world, classified in 22 fields, according to the information collected in the Scopus database until the end of 2024.
