The Social Work Department of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences (Comillas CIHS) will teach an Official Master’s Degree in Social Work in the Healthcare Environment next year. This is the first official master’s degree in social work specialised in the healthcare environment in a blended format.
The progressive specialisation of social work services in general, and in particular in the field of health, requires professionals to have increasingly specific knowledge. The aim of this master's degree is to provide social workers with specialised training that enhances the biopsychosocial approach to health, integrating health and social issues through a direct intervention with citizens.
"This master's degree allows students to acquire the necessary knowledge and skills to develop social work in the healthcare environment and to develop a successful professional career in this field, achieving a specialised professional profile", said Daniel Gil, director of the master's degree.
In addition, and as Gil assured, the master's degree opens the doors to research and doctoral studies. "It gives access to jobs that deal with complex health-illness processes in the public and private healthcare environment, and in the field of social services that intervene with users with illnesses (the elderly, dependency, addictions, mental health, etc.)," he concluded.
All this, in the context of the Department of Social Work at Comillas, which has been training workers in the field of social work for more than 50 years, with lecturers of reference in their professional field with an open and multidisciplinary perspective.
