A dozen former candidates for the notary public examination title were the first to obtain the Expert Diploma in Complementary Legal Training for the Notary Public Examination, an academic programme developed by the faculty of Law (Comillas ICADE) and promoted by the Fundación Notariado. For three months, the students have worked to improve their legal training, as well as their professional and personal skills.

During the graduation ceremony, the president of the Fundación Notariado and the Consejo General del Notariado, José Ángel Martínez Sanchiz, thanked Comillas Pontifical University for its predisposition through the process and highlighted the determination and knowledge in law of all the students who have completed the programme. Antonio Alonso highlighted “the rigorousness, seriousness, generosity and enthusiasm” of the Notaries’ Office for supporting this innovative trimodal project: in person, online and deferred online.

As Vanesa Morente, director of the diploma, said “we are very satisfied with the results; it has been a challenge for the lecturers, who have adapted their own teaching methods at Comillas ICADE to the special requirements of the Diploma".

Two students spoke at the graduation event. Lola Ferrer confessed that “you get out of the public examination totally lost and that this diploma helps you get oriented. It has led me to self-discovery, open-mindedness and new personal and professional goals”. For his part, Manuel Antonio Amezcua, defined the program as a “historical milestone and a speck of hope for candidates that have not passed the public examination”.

The subjects are divided into five areas: professional skills; administrative law; tax law; labour law and alternative systems of conflict resolution. They took twenty subjects for a total of 200 hours, equivalent to 20 ETCS.
