European Commission grants ERASMUS+ funding to EUPeace
4 July 2023
European Commission officially announced the funding of seven new European university alliances within the framework of the Erasmus+ initiative “European Universities – Development of new deep institutional transnational cooperation,” in which the “European University for Peace, Justice, and Inclusive Societies” is included. Comillas Pontifical University, together with eight European universities, is part of the EUPeace.
The project, initiated under the leadership of Philipps-Universität Marburg, is among these seven new alliances with a funding amount of almost 14.4M€ for the initial funding period of four years.
“The EUPeace Alliance is a turning point for our university, as well as a new milestone on the road towards the development of a fully integrated European higher education area. This is an institutional transformation that goes beyond internationalisation, and at the same time will allow us not only to keep the focus on our institutional mission and identity, but also to strengthen them”, says the director of the International Relations Service, Arturo Varona.
Alliance for the future
The EUPeace Alliance pursues a socio-political approach that will provide tomorrow's Europeans with skills and knowledge that will contribute to the promotion of peace, justice and inclusive societies in Europe and the world. The member universities will jointly develop innovative teaching and learning formats and joint degree programs, involving all disciplines from social sciences to life sciences and engineering, and address current and future societal challenges in joint research and outreach projects.
Justus-Liebig-Universität Gießen, Çukurova Üniversites, Sveučilište u Mostaru, Università della Calabria, Université de Limoges, Západočeská Univerzita and Universiteti i Prishttinës, as well as Comillas and Philipps Universität Marburg, are part of the alliance.
