DEMOS students showed their work in the workshops of Comillas Arte
14 April 2023
This year’s students of the DEMOS programmes of the Chair in Family and Disability: Fundación Repsol-Down Madrid exhibited the projects from the workshops in which they participate and which are organised by Comillas Arte. The exhibition, which included performances and musical acts, was also attended by the link students who collaborate in the workshops.
The students of the TECNODEMOS theatre group performed "La comisaría", a play written by themselves. For their part, the EDUCADEMOS theatre group put on a performance about life at university and how they feel integrated into it. The painting workshop made a performance about the four elements on a panel and the combo workshop played two songs: ‘Pan y Mantequilla’ by Efecto Pasillo, and ‘Paraíso’ by Dvicio.
The percussion workshop played “We Will Rock You” by Queen and “Pa’ tipos como tú” by Shakira on drums and cajón, followed by a short improvisation. Finally, the dance workshop did some individual improvisation exercises on stage, followed by a group performance in the west courtyard, which concluded the exhibition.
With these workshops, Comillas Arte, in collaboration with Comillas Solidaria, puts itself at the service of DEMOS students, a training project for employment and university inclusion for young people with intellectual disabilities, whose goal is general and specific training, from a humanistic perspective, in different professional profiles, with the aim of favouring the future employment inclusion of the students. The workshops, which take place on Wednesdays from 12:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., are theatre, combo and painting at EDUCADEMOS (Cantoblanco) and theatre, percussion and dance at TECNODEMOS (Alberto Aguilera).
The Chair in Family and Disability has two programmes: EDUCADEMOS, which gives access to the Diploma of Assistant Technician in Educational Environments, and which is taught in Cantoblanco; and TECNODEMOS, which gives access to the Diploma of Assistant Technician in Technological Environments, and which is taught in Alberto Aguilera, 23.
