"AI is not dangerous. We are."
Comillas hosts a forum to analyse the current state of Artificial Intelligence
The speakers said that what is happening now is "unfathomable", that "we only see the tip of the iceberg in AI application"

If something was clear during the conference held at Comillas, “What is going on with artificial intelligence and where are we headed?”, is that “we should not be afraid of technology or artificial intelligence (AI), but of human beings who misapply it.” This was an idea that David Villalón, head of AI at Clidrive, and Elena González-Blanco, cofounder of the same company shared.
Villalón, explained the technology behind AI and neural networks, stressing that "it must be approached as a reasoning tool" and that, nowadays, "machines with AI are not intelligent per se".
Both agreed that what is happening now is "unfathomable", that "we only see the tip of the iceberg in AI application", and that, due to the speed at which technology is moving, we can no longer talk about what will happen in the next few years, but only in the next few months. González-Blanco recalled that 2016 was when "this technology exploded" and that "the speed at which it is moving is exponential". He retraced the origins of AI to Alan Turing.
According to Bernardo Villazán, co-director of the chair for Smart Industry at Comillas ICAI, this event will help the research process. He stressed the importance of strengthening the relationship between the academic and research spheres and the business world.
Comillas ICAI Initiative on the Next Generation Industry organised the event in collaboration with MIT Club of Spain and NGInd, together with the Alumni clubs: Harvard, Boston College, UCLA Anderson, Fulbright, Stanford, Bocconi, Rotterdam and Columbia Business School Alumni.
