Innovating in education and linking university education with the needs of society are the pillars of service-learning, a methodology that combines the acquisition of knowledge with the provision of a useful service to the community. With this objective in mind, the Mayor of Madrid and alumni of the Bachelor's Degree in Law (E-1), José Luis Martínez-Almeida, and the rectors of 12 universities, including Comillas, have signed a collaboration agreement to develop joint projects that allow students to apply their learning to initiatives with a real impact on the city.

Representing the university, the Rector of Comillas, Antonio Allende SJ, stressed that the signing of the agreement reflects a demanding way of understanding the relationship between university and society. "This is not a mere administrative framework, but an alliance based on values, methodologies and social commitment. Service-learning is no longer a marginal experience but a structural element of higher education in Madrid," he said.
For his part, Martínez-Almeida stressed that the agreement combines two fundamental concepts: learning, as the backbone of education and society, and service, as a way of serving all citizens and guaranteeing social cohesion. According to the mayor, "this collaboration allows students to develop a vocation of commitment, applying their knowledge in real contexts and contributing to the well-being of the city".
This agreement reflects the commitment of Madrid and the universities to an education linked to the community, offering students training experiences that prepare them to face the professional and social challenges of the future.
