CIHS students close a cycle by graduating on the campus that has seen them grow up

The end of a cycle. An emotional moment in which the students of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences (CIHS) graduated in the place that saw them take their first university steps, the Cantoblanco campus. Lessons, laughter, memories, and some tears, surely came to our students' minds at that long-awaited moment of receiving their stoles.

Because, as Gonzalo López Gamo, student of the Degree in International Relations and Degree in International Communication, said, "I guess it's our turn to be adults from now on". A new stage begins, full of new challenges, situations and, above all, opportunities.

M.ª del Pilar Ponce Velasco, godmother of this promotion and president of the School Council of the Community of Madrid, advised our students about their next steps. "Be flexible and able to adapt to this constantly changing and increasingly complex context," said Ponce.

Future teachers, philosophers, politicians, psychologists, criminologists, social educators, communicators or translators, your next achievements will undoubtedly mark our society. The Rector of our University, Enrique Sanz Jimenez-Rico, quoted St. Ignatius of Loyola in his speech, "Humanities are the means to achieve the most proper end of the Society of Jesus, which is to help souls and neighbours".

What will come next? Each of our students will chart his or her own path. "Today I encourage you to do just that, to complicate yourselves. Do not choose the easy path. To put your gifts at the service of others. To listen and to respond to what God has prepared for each one of us", that is the message that Gonzalo wanted to convey in his speech to his classmates.

Congratulations to all the graduates!
