The San Juan de Dios-Comillas University School of Nursing and Physiotherapy (EUEF) has signed a Learning and Service (ApS) collaboration agreement with the NGO Ecos do Sur, within the framework of the "Invisible Hands" programme.
Thanks to this agreement, teachers and students of the EUEF are developing participatory community physiotherapy workshops, co-created with professionals of the entity and aimed at women users of this entity.
The students' learning is being carried out through role play workshops, where they reflect on the social determinants of health, and through immersive experiences in virtual reality, which seek to raise awareness of the unmet health needs of a particularly vulnerable group: women workers in the domestic sector and care for dependent persons.
In the first workshop, the students learned first-hand about some of the difficulties faced by this group: "After this workshop, we understood that health is conditioned by social factors, such as working far from home or having living conditions that are not always favourable," says Álvaro, a student of the EUEF Physiotherapy Degree.
Through this agreement, EUEF reinforces its commitment to training that combines the acquisition of professional skills with social responsibility and care for vulnerable communities.
