This Friday, 14th November, the San Juan de Dios-Comillas University School of Nursing and Physiotherapy (EUEF), through its ApS project "Squeeze & Lift", signed a collaboration agreement with the Fundación Luz Casanova, dedicated to women who have experienced or are experiencing situations of gender violence.
This agreement was signed by Maite Pacheco, director of the Luz Casanova Foundation, and María Simarro, coordinator of the project. In this meeting they were accompanied by Marta Martín, head of Communication and Strategic Alliances of the Luz Casanova Foundation, Miguel Mendoza, coordinator of ApS of the EUEF; and by Marta Benito, teacher linked to the project.
In this context, the "Squeeze & Lift" project will develop an awareness-raising programme aimed at analysing how chronic stress affects the pelvic healthof women who have suffered gender-based violence .
"Through shared learning spaces, self-care dynamics and proposals that help to reconnect with one's own body, our students will accompany the participants in processes of personal strengthening and wellbeing. For them, it means discovering that their training acquires true meaning when it is placed at the service of human dignity and of those who need to be listened to, accompanied and cared for", highlights María Simarro, coordinator of the project.
This joint work through "Squeeze & Lift", linked to the subject of Physiotherapy in Urogineproctology and Obstetricsand coordinated by professors María Simarro and Marta Benito, involves opening a space where learning and service are integrated to accompany women in situations of special vulnerability .
"Experiences such as Squeeze & Lift show how Learning and Service turns knowledge into a tool for transformation and, at the same time, into an experience that deeply enriches the personal and professional growth of the students", says María Simarro.
Furthermore, this collaboration allows EUEF to advance in its commitment to train professionals capable of looking at reality with empathy and acting with true social responsibility, reinforcing the School's commitment to an education capable of uniting knowledge with care for others .
