What is the distance-learning Bachelor’s Degree in Theology?
The Comillas CIHS Distance Learning Bachelor’s Degree in Theology is an official five-year programme delivered online by theFaculty of Theology at the Pontifical University of Comillas. It is the only distance-learning Bachelor’s Degree in Theology in Spain recognised by the Holy See and is equivalentto EQF Level 7, recognised by the Spanish State as a Bachelor's Degree in Theology.
This programme is aimed at lay people, members of religious orders, consecrated persons and seminarianswho wish to combine arigorous theological education with their pastoral, professional or personal commitments. For those who prefer face-to-face teaching, Comillas also offers theBachelor’s Degree in Theology(face-to-face).
The curriculum covers the main areas of theology: Sacred Scripture, Systematic Theology, Moral Theology, Church History, Liturgy, Canon Law and Pastoral Theology. The programme employs a methodology specifically designed for online learning, combining independent study, academic support and assessments tailored to distance learning.
As the only programme of its kind amongst distance-learning Bachelor’s degrees in Theology in Spain, this programme enables students to studyfora Higher Bachelor’s Degree in Theology via distance learning with full academic and canonical guarantees, whilst also providing access toa Master’s Degree in Theologyand subsequent doctoral studies at internationally recognised ecclesiastical institutions.

The Comillas CIHS on-campus Bachelor’s Degree in Theology is a three-year programme based at the Madrid Campus (morning programme), whilst the distance-learning Bachelor’s Degree in Theology is delivered online over five years, allowing students to combine their studies with pastoral, professional or family life.
