The Office for the Transfer of Research Results (OTRI) at Comillas Pontifical University has been recognised as a Knowledge Transfer Office (OTC) by the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities (MICIU), as a key agent in the connection between knowledge-generating entities and the productive sector.
This process responds to the new Royal Decree 984/2022 to boost the units or entities dedicated to the transfer function, strengthening them and enhancing their capabilities and their impact on the Spanish Science, Technology and Innovation System, and representing an evolution of the TTOs, with a more comprehensive and broader approach to transfer, which includes knowledge and social participation.
The transfer functions recognised in the TTO with this registration are the protection of Research, Development and Innovation (R+D+I) results; the exploitation of research results, inventions and new technologies through any type of contract that involves the transfer of their use or ownership to third parties; collaborative research between public and private entities; the contracting of R+D+I and technological services; the promotion of the creation of knowledge-based entities, and the social dissemination of knowledge.
Accreditation as a TCO, in addition to official recognition, will allow access to new national and European funds, improving the resources available for internationalisation, technical support, advice and infrastructures. These funds include those for knowledge transfer, applied research, technology development and protection of industrial property.
