What is the Double Degree?
The Dual Bachelor's Degree in Criminology and Social Work is the first degree programme in Spain to combine a Bachelor's Degree in Criminology with a Bachelor's Degree in Social Work. Studying the Double Bachelor's Degree in Criminology and Social Work will enable you to address aspects of criminal psychology – such as crime prevention, quality of life, support for victims and the promotion of tolerance and diversity – from a professional perspective, going beyond the fight against crime and its legal and regulatory framework.

The Double Bachelor's Degree in Criminology and Social Work takes a global and holistic approach to human security, focusing not only on crime but also on people, and covering aspects such as the prevention of violence, the promotion of quality of life and tolerance, and direct work with victims and offenders.It trains professionals capable of addressing issues such as the identification of situations of risk and vulnerability, preventative work, counselling and support for victims, mediation between victims and offenders, support for and monitoring of judicial measures, intervention to facilitate the reintegration of offenders, investigation into the causes and consequences of criminal acts, and the coordination and management of multi-professional teams.For this reason, students enrolling on the Double Bachelor's Degree in Criminology and Social Work will be professionally oriented towards the fields of research, prevention and intervention in criminal situations, and will be motivated and focused primarily on people’s safety and well-being, rather than solely on legal regulation and the control of crime.They must possess a vocation for service, a commitment to helping people, communication and interpersonal skills, analytical and critical thinking abilities, autonomy and initiative, a commitment to their work, and the competence and motivation required for teamwork.

This comprehensive programme enables graduates to work in both the public sector (prisons, social services, the justice system) and the private sector (security, the third sector, NGOs).
Yes. As this is a dual Bachelor's Degree programme that combines both qualifications into a joint programme totalling 366 ECTS credits over five years, the curriculum is already designed to capitalise on the synergies between the two disciplines, whilst avoiding duplication. For students who already hold one of the two Bachelor's Degrees and wish to obtain the second, we recommend contacting the Comillas Admissions Office directly to find out details of which subjects can be recognised and the specific procedure to follow.
Studying them together offers a comprehensive perspective that goes beyond a purely legal approach to crime. This dual Bachelor's Degree enables students to address the reality of crime through prevention, social intervention and victim support, combining an understanding of criminal behaviour with tools for direct social intervention. Furthermore, we are the first university in Spain to offer this combination, which reflects the natural complementarity of both disciplines. Studying them together saves time (5 years compared to 8 if studied separately) and provides a more comprehensive and distinctive professional profile.
Yes, it is possible to enrol on a criminology course if you already hold a Bachelor's Degree in Social Work. To do so, you must meet the legal entry requirements for university set out in current legislation. We offer a five-step admissions process and have a programme of scholarships and grants for students with academic merit and financial needs.
