Comillas Pontifical University has signed an educational collaboration agreement with the Real Virtual Sociedad de Expedicionarios Científicos Ilustrados Miguel de la Quadra-Salcedo, an alliance that was created with the aim of promoting education, research and scientific dissemination, based on a commitment to nature and cultural dialogue between Spain and Latin America.
This agreement, signed by the Rector of Comillas, Antonio Allende, SJ, and Sol de la Quadra-Salcedo, President of the Association, reflects the commitment that both institutions have with the training of people who are aware of the importance of caring for the environment and who, in addition, contribute to the creation of a fairer and more sustainable society.
Through this agreement, both institutions will pool their teaching, technical and methodological resources to develop joint activities that address issues of social, cultural and environmental interest. They will promote internship programmes for students, degree and master's degree courses, and other initiatives that facilitate continuous training, both for those starting out on their professional careers and for those seeking to update their work.
The Real Virtual Sociedad de Expedicionarios Científicos Ilustrados Miguel de la Quadra-Salcedo, inspired by the figure and legacy of Miguel de la Quadra-Salcedo, a former student of the Jesuit school in Tudela, works to ensure that the new generations are not only scientists, but also social communicators capable of sharing and co-creating knowledge from a humanist and committed perspective.
The first collaboration derived from this agreement will be the coordination of the scientific committee of the 1st International Congress of Expeditionaries, to be held in Guadalupe in September 2025. Comillas, through Henar Pizarro and Teresa Corzo. This congress will bring together expedition members who accompanied Miguel on 33 expeditions between 1979 and 2016, to analyse the impact of a transformative educational experience created by a visionary who marked thousands of people over the course of 40 years, strengthening the union of the Spanish-American community. Under the slogan Gracias Miguel: 40 years Aula Navegante and through testimonies and the contribution of national and international experts, the event will explore how these experiences built an active legacy, offering participants the opportunity to develop a forum for reflection and debate.
