A message of welcome from the Rector of the Universidad Pontificia Comillas
I would like to extend a warm welcome to you on behalf of all the members of our University Community: Professors, Administrative and Services Personnel, Students and Alumni.
Our university is a Catholic Pontifical University, entrusted to the Society of Jesus, known as the Jesuits, and was founded more than 100 years ago. We are “the Jesuit University of Madrid” and we belong to a network of more than 200 Jesuit universities from around the world.
Tradition and innovation are terms which are cherished by Jesuit universities, and by our University, as well. The value of tradition is reflected at Comillas in several aspects: our Learning Model, placing students at the center of the learning process, where the relationship between professors and students is especially individualized; our Research and Transfer of Knowledge, more specifically, how we carry this out and what we research; the international dimension of our Teaching and Research; we are always working ‘for’ and at the service of society.
How do we express the value of innovation? Our professors have acquired the necessary skills to foment this successfully. We have implemented new learning methodologies in our degrees. We offer learning spaces that encourage and favor such innovation. New and innovative programs for students and alumni.
A sustainable and ecological institution, as recognized by the prestigious Times Higher Education Ranking.
You are all very welcome at Comillas!
Enrique Sanz Giménez-Rico, SJ
