A solidarity project at Comillas in Kenya, winner of the 12th ACM Awards for Social Responsibility

The University of Deusto hosted the 12th Aristos Campus Mundus (ACM) Awards for Social Responsibility, in which Comillas was recognised with one of the main awards. Jesús Muñoz Muñoz, professor at the "San Juan de Dios" School of Nursing and Physiotherapy, received the first prize in the category of Best Practices in University Social Commitment for his "Nyumbani Orphanage Ecovillage Project" in Kenya.
This initiative combines sustainability, education and child care in a vulnerable environment. A project that is a clear reflection of the fact that the commitment of Comillas and its university community goes beyond borders.

Good Practices Award in University Cooperation for Development
- Berta Sitjar Armisén (Ramon Llull University) - "Palestinians and Israelis. From dialogue between equals to solidarity in difference".
- Lucía Peláez Aurrecoechea (University of Deusto) - "Design of a solar photovoltaic installation in a hospital located in Lunsar, Sierra Leone".
Prize for Best Practices in University Social Commitment

- Candela Pardo Martínez and Ariadna Aliana Cano (Ramon Llull University) - "Legal assistance for women victims of gender violence at the Juana Centre".
Ignacio Ellacuría Prize for Studies of Social Interest - Degree Projects
- Joan Vila Valero (Ramon Llull University) - "Talent management for people with Down's syndrome in the framework of Supported Employment".
- Eva Barbancho López (Ramon Llull University) - "The labour inclusion of people at risk or in a situation of social exclusion...".
- Izadi Diego Eguren, Nerea de Dios Gómez, Uxue Castro Sánchez and Ana Villanueva Urralburu (University of Deusto, ex aequo award) - "Design of a toy hearing aid for children with deafness".

- Arnau Domingo Cendros (Ramon Llull University) - "Denial of care in social services: interpretation of the 'State of Basic Personal Need' in Catalonia".
- Carla Gironès García (Ramon Llull University) - "The rights of the tenant: an unknown reality".

- Paula Torres Català (University of Deusto) - "Ceramics as a tool for working on the self-esteem of women with substance abuse".
- Laura Olaortua Castellanos and Begoña Rodríguez Campos (University of Deusto) - "Frenos y motivaciones de la juventud vasca para colaborar con las ONG. Proposal of actions for the case of UNICEF Basque Country".
The ACM awards, which bring together the universities of Deusto, Ramon Llull, Comillas and Loyola in their commitment to excellence with a social sense, are a space for sharing good practices and strengthening inter-university cooperation.
