Professor Santiago García Mourelo, PhD, from the Faculty of Theology, has published his work entitled Teología Fundamental, in Editorial CCS (2024, ISBN: 9788413792088).

Professor Santiago García Mourelo, from the Department of Dogmatic and Fundamental Theology, has a PhD in Theology and is an expert in Fundamental Theology, phenomenology of the religious fact and Youth Pastoral. He is also currently the Coordinator of Theological Extension and Christian Social Thought at Comillas.

Below is a summary of the book:

Don't be frightened by the title. "Fundamental Theology" may evoke an arduous and brainy intellectual task, on the margins of the life of faith that we humbly and daily lead. However, we have all asked ourselves at some time or other how God manifests Himself, how to recognise Him, how to explain Him, and how to respond to this question. And also, how to respond to this God who reveals himself? Is faith a feeling, ideas, a way of life? How can we continue to listen to his will? What role do the Church and the Magisterium play in this? How can we make faith credible, liveable and lovable?

The pages you hold in your hands aim to provide answers to these and other questions, offering the criteria and insights that theological reflection, treasured in Sacred Scripture and ecclesial Tradition, has acquired over the centuries. To this end, after a brief -first section-, in which the contours of theological reflection and Fundamental Theology are outlined, you will find a -second section- that aims to show the signs of the radical openness of the human being to God, as well as the keys to the religious phenomenon in order to avoid possible insufficient experiences. Then, in the -third section-, we will present the essential features of the Revelation of God, one and triune, as well as the unfolding of its transmission in History. Finally, in the -fourth section-, we will offer some keys to understand how we can and must respond positively to the God revealed in Jesus Christ through the power of his Spirit, and some elements that can make the faith that unites us credible. We are sure that by reading and reflecting on these pages, both personally and in common, you will come out a winner!

The index of the work is also available in open access.
