Areas of application

MATERIALS

The publication of materials in open access favours their discovery and immediate reuse.

Comillas Pontifical University Publications publishes all its scientific journals in open access on its own portal, https://revistas.comillas.edu/.

The congresses, conferences, innovation projects, selected scientific books, etc. will make up our catalogue of open access books and will be made available to users through the Editorial Comillas -Open Access portal.

The published contents will be the publisher's version and no previous version will be made available in open access. Preprints will not be accepted.

AUTHORS

In those scientific publications that the authors and the Publisher consider appropriate, two open access publication options will be considered:

  • Immediate access to 100% of the content

  • Immediate access to 15% of the content and limited access to the rest until a period of 6 to 24 months of embargo has elapsed in order to favour the commercialisation of the printed version and to make the economic model sustainable.

The author retains the rights to the work and assigns the economic rights of public communication of the work, which will be expressed in a document signed by both parties.

For 100% open access publications, the author will be able to publish the publisher's version in any repository, favouring the visibility of the work through self-archiving.

In principle, any publication published by our university, financed with public funds or any subsidy, will be published in open access without embargo period.

The benefits that the author obtains from open access is the increase of the visibility of his work and immediate dissemination, on the other hand, he/she/them renounces to receive a financial compensation for it.

CONTRACT

The author and the Publisher will sign a publishing contract for each work disseminated in open access, specifying the mutually agreed conditions and recognising the rights and obligations of the parties.

EVALUATION

All scientific materials (research books and journals) released in Open Access must have undergone a review and evaluation process as rigorous as those subject to commercialisation. The process involves the selection of two reviewers external to Comillas Pontifical University with accredited research experience, who will carry out the evaluation in a double-blind manner and will issue reports that will help the Editorial Committee to make the decision to publish or not.

LICENSE

Works disseminated in open access will be identified under the Creative Commons licence: Attribution - Non-Commercial - No Derivative Works(CC BY-NC-ND 4.0).

The DOI registration through the Crossref platform ensures the dissemination and survival of metadata related to literary works.

IDENTIFICATION

All materials disseminated in Open Access will have a DOI, in addition to an ISBN of the Publisher in the case of books, and will be published under a Creative Commons licence. These works may also be offered in paper format or in the print-on-demand model.
