The band Entrecomillas, formed by the students of the Combo Workshop at Comillas Arte, participated in the fourth day of the 1st Universifest edition, a festival for young musicians that took place in the Sala Clamores in Madrid.
The 13 students who make up the band (a guitarist, a bassist, a drummer, several pianists, a saxophonist, a flautist and four singers), subdivided into two musical ensembles for the concert, received a sincere round of applause from the audience. For an hour, the first ensemble played songs like “Don´t look back in Anger”, “Killer Queen”, “Do I wanna Know”, “Eye of the Tiger”, “How to save a life” and “Your song”. The second ensemble played “Ex´s and oh”, “Sweater weather”, “Elastic heart”, “Rolling in the Deep”, “Kiwi” and “Valerie”.
Universifest aspires to be a benchmark in the world of university music and aims to promote the career of young bands. Pablo Gutiérrez, director of Campus Life at the Universidad CEU San Pablo, started this initiative with the intention of giving a space to groups that play their own songs as well as songs from other artists. This new project aims to create and consolidate bands of young musicians, offering them a platform for artistic growth and more visibility. This way, the interaction between musicians from diverse environments and styles (pop-rock and related genres) grows.
Besides Comillas, bands from the Universidad CEU San Pablo, Francisco de Vitoria University, Alfonso X El Sabio University and Ángel Herrera Oria Cultural Foundation took part in this 1st edition, although Universifest is open to all universities and university bands.
