The ICAI School of Engineering (Comillas ICAI) and the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration (Comillas ICADE) held the Opening Ceremony of the 2nd Edition of the DBA in Management and Technology, which they organize jointly. The inaugural lecture was delivered by Pilar López, President of Microsoft Ibérica, who spoke on "Digital Transformation in the New Data Economy".
López recalled: “In terms of Digititalization, Spain found itself in a situation of deficit. In recent months, we have seen the digital transformation that was planned for the next five years. We must view this situation as an opportunity for us, as well as for the entire country”. Regarding the Program, the President of Microsoft Ibérica said: “It represents the opportunity to continue learning at any time. The future will show a need for training and learning, and only then will it be possible for the world to become more sustainable ”.
The event, which could be followed on-line via streaming, was attended by the students of the first two Graduating Classes, and was chaired by the Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration (Comillas ICADE), María Teresa Corzo, the Director of the ICAI School of Engineering (Comillas ICAI), Antonio Muñoz, the Dean of the Faculty of Law, Iñigo A. Navarro, and by the Rector of the University, Fr. Julio L. Martínez, SJ.
During his speech, the Rector of the University reflected on themes which addressed Bioethical issues. “Humanity is being tested. The pandemic has become a totalizing phenomenon, and everything is being affected by the disease. COVID-19 has made us feel fragile as individuals and as a society. That is the reason why it is essential to bring back a sense of Humanism ”, he pointed out. A Humanism open to technology and data. “Technology helps us to decide and to manage, but it is human beings, with their Ethics, who make decisions. Technology by itself will not be inclusive ”, he concluded.
The DBA is a program that combines Advanced Professional Training Courses with Applied Research and Innovation, and is aimed at professionals with extensive work experience.
