Although the World Youth Day (WYD) that was held in Lisbon ended August 6, it still echoes. A delegation of 44 students from Comillas, led by Ignacio González Sexma, SJ, was present. “It has been a great church experience, full of the joy of the Gospel,” he said.

Comillas was part of the youth delegation of the diocese of Madrid that went to the Portuguese capital to celebrate this meeting of young people from all over the world. They participated actively in all the acts that were held: the Spanish mass presided by the cardinal Omella on Saint Ignatius day; the WYD opening mass officiated by the bishop of Lisbon; the catechesis given by Monsignor José Cobo, archbishop of Madrid; the mass for Spanish Ignatians; the arrival and speech of pope Francis in the Eduardo VII park; the Stations of the Cross, the Vigil and the final mass.

After this amazing experience, the next WYD will be in Seul in 2027.
