International mobility - EUEF
International mobility programs allow our students to study for a period of time at a foreign school or university within the European Union through the Erasmus+ Program.
Studying abroad is a unique educational experience in which students not only acquire academic knowledge, but also social and cultural skills that will be extremely valuable for their development both as individuals and as professionals.

Frequently asked questions
Students who are awarded a place in the International Mobility Program will remain enrolled at their home university (SJD School of Nursing and Physiotherapy). Therefore, they will continue paying tuition and fees at their home institution, but they will not have to make any payments or enroll at the host university.
Exchange Modalities:
- Study Mobility: supervised clinical placements + theoretical courses
- Practical Mobility: supervised clinical placements only
Supervised clinical placements take place at training centers associated with the host university. In some cases, a number of independent study hours may be scheduled, as defined by the corresponding placements coordinator.
Students in the 2nd year of the Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing who go abroad in their 3rd year must enroll in the 3rd-year elective courses they wish to take abroad. This is not required for Physiotherapy students, as they go abroad in the 4th year.
Once enrolled, the possibilities are:
- If the host university offers any elective of interest, students will take the elective at the host university (exchange modality: “Erasmus Studies”).
- If the host university does not offer a suitable option, students must take the elective in Madrid during the 4th year (exchange modality: “Erasmus Practical Placements”).
How do I keep up with theoretical courses taught in Madrid while I am abroad?
Erasmus exchange students must follow the theoretical courses offered at EUEF remotely during the weeks they are abroad. They should consult the materials uploaded by the professor on Moodle and request online tutoring to resolve any academic questions.
Upon returning from the Erasmus exchange, students must take the exam during the ordinary exam period of their courses, on the date published by the SJD School of Nursing and Physiotherapy.
After the provisional placement, in order for it to become effective, the outgoing student must not have more than 6 ECTS credits not passed in the June exam session of the academic year in which they are applying for mobility.
If this condition is not met, the student must decline the pre-assigned place and will be withdrawn from the exchange program.
Not passed course: a course that is failed, not taken, or not enrolled from previous years.
The international stay is not the time to learn a new language; the objective is to complete clinical placements and/or courses in the chosen language.
Therefore, a certain level of language proficiency is required, as determined by each host university.
- Students must submit their language certificate during the application period for their application to be considered.
- In order for a pre-assignment of a place to be made, it is essential that the student presents the certificate demonstrating the language level required by the host university (see the list of destination universities).
Places will be allocated based on academic records, provided that the corresponding language certificate has been submitted during the application period.
If there are more applications than available places for a given destination, the order of selection will depend on the student’s academic record.
IMPORTANT NOTE: An accepted application (which means the student has submitted their language certificate on time) implies a pre-assignment of the destination, which will be subject to meeting the academic requirement in June of that academic year (not having more than 6 ECTS credits not passed).
It is the sole responsibility of the student to arrange their travel, accommodation, any required visa, vaccination records, PCR tests (or other tests), and valid health insurance in the country where they will reside.
The student is responsible for covering travel, accommodation, living expenses, local transportation, as well as other costs related to leisure activities, optional language courses, etc.
A student from the SJD School of Nursing and Physiotherapy (EUEF) who has accepted an exchange/mobility place for the following academic year and withdraws without a duly justified reason will automatically lose their priority in the selection order for clinical placements for that year.
As a result, this student will have to choose their practical rotations after the rest of their classmates have completed the selection process, and will be subject to the places available at that time.
