The III World Congress on Teresian Mysticism and Interreligious Dialogue was held at the CITeS "University of Mysticism" in Avila from 25 to 28 July. This year, the meeting focused on the theme "Tibetan Buddhism and Carmelite spirituality: Orientations for visualising, contemplating and encountering the sacred".

Juan Antonio Marcos, professor at our university, participated as a speaker at the Congress with the conference entitled: "The pre-contemplative experience in Carmelite mysticism".

The event was attended by more than 100 participants from different countries around the world, and about 50 online participants.

During these days a deep dialogue between Tibetan Buddhism and Carmelite spirituality was promoted, highlighting the importance of mutual understanding for peace and fraternal coexistence.

The agenda of the meeting included lectures by 17 expert Doctors and Graduates from universities in Hong Kong, India, Italy, Greece, England and Spain, as well as celebrations of each tradition and workshops on Buddhist and Carmelite meditation.

Professor Juan Antonio Marcos holds a PhD in Spanish Philology (Linguistics) from the Department of Moral Theology and Praxis of Christian Life, and is an expert in Carmelite mysticism and spiritual language. He is currently deputy director of the CITeS-University of Mysticism (Avila).
