This Master’s Degree offers training through permanent contact with professionals in the field of Interpreting
The Master's Degree in Conference Interpreting, the only Official Master's Degree in Spain which is a member of the European Masters in Conference Interpreting (EMCI) Consortium , proposes a solid education and training through permanent contact with professionals in the area of Conference Interpreting, and the use of the latest methodological and technological advances. It follows the recommendations of the International Association of Conference Interpreters Best Practices and has been re-accredited by ANECA (the Spanish National Association for Quality Control).
Classes have a highly practical content based on exercises and simulations, where both consecutive and simultaneous interpretation are perfected. The Official Master´s Degree in Conference Interpreting focuses on the development of analysis and synthesis, and on achieving an understanding by students that interpreting is not just repeating words by transliterating them from one language to another, but rather it is an exercise in understanding ideas that are then transmitted through a transformation, involving the adaptation of concepts and background information to the natural form of expression of the target language. The student is taught to self-evaluate and to know the metalanguage which is used in the exercise of the profession. Professors are natives speakers with officially validated University Degrees in Spain, and active professionals in the world of Interpreting, accredited by international organizations.

The General Directorates for Interpreting of the European Commission and the European Parliament collaborate in training, through their pedagogical assistance programs, virtual classes and attendance at final exams. In addition, every year a trip to Brussels is offered, during which students can practice in silent booths at both institutions.

What I like the most about this Master's Degree is that it is not easy, you have to work hard and keep at it every day, but in compensation you can then see the fruits of your efforts.
What I value the most is the small number of students, which allows us to collaborate with each other continuously and receive individualized attention.
It has taught me to overcome daily challenges and to value the importance of small achievements.

Profile of Graduates:
Conference Interpreter in the modalities of Consecutive and Simultaneous Interpreting.
Many conference interpreters are professionals who provide their services on the national or international markets as self-employed workers. The work of interpreters in the private sector usually takes place in the context of the business world (visits and meetings, negotiation of agreements, shareholders’ meetings, board meetings, etc.) or at large international conferences and fairs. Frequently, linguistic combinations that include two or more active languages are the most interesting for this market. The most widely used in Spain is, without a doubt, the bidirectional combination English-Spanish.
National and international institutions, such as the Organización de las United Nations, the European Commission, the European Parliament and the Court of Justice of the EU, are large employers of conference interpreting professionals. Interpreters who work in the institutional sector may have passed a competitive exam or work as self-employed individuals after having been admitted on the lists that accredit them.
In Spain, entering the work force of translators and interpreters of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation requires taking part in an open competition with translation and interpreting selective tests. The list of interpreters working as freelance employees for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation is centralized through the Official Registry of Sworn Translators and Interpreters.
The Master's Degree in Conference Interpreting is official and, as such, allows for access to the Doctoral Program.
Classes in the Official Master’s Degree in Conference Interpretation have a high degree of practical content that consists of carrying out exercises and practical simulations, while work is done in both consecutive and simultaneous interpreting. Throughout the program there is a pedagogical progression during which the level of demand and difficulty is increased. Points of control and evaluation of academic results are set at key moments in the course.
