Mar Zulueta, new Head of Studies for the Degree in Nursing at the Paseo de la Habana Campus

With an outstanding track record in teaching, management and research, Mar Zulueta assumes the position with a vision focused on excellence and humanised care.

The San Juan de Dios -Comillas University School of Nursing and Physiotherapy has appointed Professor Mar Zulueta Egea as the new Head of Studies for the Degree in Nursing at the Paseo de la Habana Campus, replacing Begoña Cuenca, to whom it is deeply grateful for her excellent work, commitment and experience during the years she has held this post.

Mar Zulueta, with more than ten years of teaching experience at the University, is a professional committed to the training of future nurses from an integral perspective, with special attention to the human and ethical dimension of care. She is currently Coordinator of the School's Humanities Department and lecturer in subjects such as Basic and Developmental Psychology and Health Psychology, Gender and Communication.

In view of her recent appointment, Zulueta has expressed her gratitude and her vision of service: "I am extremely grateful to the management team for the trust placed in me and I take on this new challenge as a mission of service to all members of the university community, with the commitment to try to transmit and instil the values of hospitality, excellence and quality so that students, from a responsible freedom, as future professionals, transform healthcare into a more humanised and compassionate model of care".

The new Head of Studies has a solid and multidisciplinary background: she has a Diploma in Teaching (Special Education), a Diploma in Nursing and a Higher Degree in Health Sciences from the Autonomous University of Madrid. She is also a Specialist in Nursing Services Management from Comillas, has a degree in Psychopedagogy from the UNED, a Master's Degree in Counselling from the Ramón Llull University and a Master's Degree in Teacher Training from the International University of Valencia. In 2019 she obtained her PhD "Cum Laude" in Psychology from the Universidad Pontificia Comillas.

Before joining the university, she developed an extensive professional career in the field of nursing care and management between 1997 and 2013 in various hospital units in Madrid. Since 2014, she has focused her career on teaching, both in vocational training and at university level, especially in the field of psychology and clinical practice.

In terms of research, Mar Zulueta has focused on topics such as the quality of care in palliative care, the well-being and spirituality of healthcare professionals, and the meaning of life in contexts of advanced illness and end of life.
