Citation indexes are databases that collect information on the citations received by scientific articles.

They allow to know the citations received by an author or by a specific work.


Web of Science

  • Web of Science Core collection: Indexes containing the references cited by the authors of the articles. Allows searching by cited references.
  • Science Citation Index Expanded (SCI-Expanded): From 1900 - present.
  • Social Sciences Citation Index (SSCI): From 1900 - present.
  • Arts Humanities Citation Index (A&HCI): From 1975 - present.
  • Emerging Sources Citation Index (ESCI): From 2015 - present.

Scopus

Elsevier database that collects citations of papers published in the database since 1996.

Dimensions

Includes a citation database, a set of research analytics and modern article access and discovery functionality. Most of its services and products are free of charge, although there are some for a fee.
The free version provides a more efficient and effective way to discover the most relevant research.

It includes full-text article search, basic metrics and access to any open access articles that appear in the results.

MahtSCiNet

Gives information on the citations received by the journals in the database itself.

ModernitasCitas

Database created by the CSIC and Universidad Carlos III of citations in Spanish on modern history. Its aim is to analyse and evaluate citations in scientific journals and conference proceedings.

Google Scholar

This search engine includes peer-review studies, theses, books, abstracts and articles from academic sources. The results provide information on the number of citations received.
