A study carried out by the San Juan de Dios University School of Nursing and Physiotherapy - Comillas (EUEF), recently published in the journal Applied Sciences, has shown that the position of the pad on the leg during muscle strength tests on the knee can significantly influence the results, especially in flexor muscles such as the hamstrings.
The research, carried out by professors Néstor Pérez, María Jesús Beltrán, Lucía Cuéllar, Juan Manuel Arribas and Raúl Coto, involved eleven professional players from the Movistar Estudiantes team, who were studied as the main sample for the analysis.
With these results, the professors indicate that correctly adjusting the position of the pad could be key to more accurately assessing muscle strength and preventing injuries in professional basketball players.
Thanks to this study, new approaches to improve assessment and training techniques in high-impact sports such as basketball are opened up.
The aim of this plan is to facilitate the patient's transition to closer care from primary care after overcoming the disease, without losing the link to specialised hospital services.
