Comillas Pontifical University has announced the appointment of Jesús R. Jiménez Octavio as the next Director of the School of Engineering (Comillas ICAI). This change marks the beginning of a new phase in which continuity will be given to the academic and transformation project led until now by Antonio Muñoz San Roque, to whom the university is deeply grateful for his leadership, commitment and dedication during his term of office.
Jesús R. Jiménez Octavio holds a PhD in Industrial Engineering from Comillas ICAI, where he also obtained his degree in Industrial Engineering. Lecturer in the Department of Mechanical Engineering, he has developed his research career at the Institute for Research in Technology (IIT) and MOBIOS Lab, focusing on mechanics of continuous media applied to different sectors, from railways to biomechanics. His career combines academic excellence with a strategic vision oriented towards the social and business impact of knowledge.
"I am grateful for the trust placed in me to give continuity to the project led in recent years by Antonio Muñoz. I face the challenge of maintaining Comillas ICAI among the best engineering schools with the enthusiasm -and the prudence that assuming this responsibility demands-, and accompanying the permanent transformation that corresponds to an institution at the forefront, based on the mission, vision and values that inspire our tradition", assures the new director. "More than ever , we need the mediation of innovation and transfer to be a centre of reference - also in the artificial intelligence revolution - where knowledge and technological development have an impact on the business, public and social spheres, and where students and alumni can be for and with the world," he says.
The university will soon announce the details of the inauguration ceremony, which will take place in September.
