The Chair for Energy and Poverty has officially begun its proceedings after the meeting of the Advisory Council at the University's downtown campus. This is the group that decides the lines to follow in the research proposed by the Chair, and meets at least once a year. It is formed by companies and organizations such as Endesa, Gas Natural Fenosa (through its Foundation), EDP and the Spanish Gas Association (Sedigas), the body representing the gas sector in Spain, and social entities such as the Tomillo Foundation or FUNCAS , and NGOs such as ACA, ATD Fourth World, Cáritas, Red Cross, EAPN (European Network for the Fight against Poverty) and Energy without Borders.

According to Pedro Linares, Vice-Rector for Research and Internationalization, this Chair "is a platform created so that social agents can share concerns and request research projects from the university, seeking rigor and impact on society," he stated. With regard to that research, Efraim Centeno, Director of the Chair, said that "it will be rooted in reality and will be interdisciplinary," and that thanks to all of those that participate, "it will lead to something useful and applicable, because we are not only seeking to publish papers," he said. .
