SICUE (“Sistema de Intercambio entre Universidades Españolas” in Spanish, or System for Exchange between Spanish Universities) is a program for student mobility between and among Spanish Universities. This program allows students to carry out a period of study in any Spanish University with which an agreement has been signed. These periods of studies at another Spanish University have a duration of one or two semesters.
In order for studies at the host university to be validated at the home university, a document for academic recognition is signed between the coordinators at the two universities and the student, in which the courses to be taken at the host university are indicated, as well as the courses for which they will be validated once the stay has been completed.

The Spanish Language and Culture courses are organized and custom-made for groups of 16-20 university students upon the request of interested institutions.
*A minimum of 16 students is necessary for the program to take place.
The International Mobility Programs allow students to study for a period of time at a foreign university, whether in the European Union, through the Erasmus+ Program, or at universities in other countries with which Comillas has signed a Bilateral Agreement.
Erasmus+: The exchange takes place between universities from countries in the European Union. The selection of Erasmus students for participation in an exchange program is the responsibility of the each home university. The Erasmus+ program provides students with financial support, but it does not cover all of their expenses during their period of studies in the host country. In order to receive this financial aid, it is necessary to fulfill the following requirements:
The period of study abroad will have a minimum duration of 3 months and a maximum of 12 months, although the maximum grant or financial aid allowed will be for a period of 5 months.
The student will pay tuition, exam fees, and laboratory or library fees in the home country and not at the host institution.
Studies completed abroad are reccognized by the student´s home university.
The amount of financial aid depends on the standard of living of the country in which the student will study. Three groups of countries, with financial aid amounting to between 200€ and
300€ per month, have been established.
Bilateral Agreements: Comillas has signed agreements with universities in the USA, Canada, Australia and New Zealand, Asia, and Latin America.
As is the case with the Erasmus+ Program, candidates for bilateral agreements are selected by the School or Faculty where they are enrolled, and pay their fees to the home university, not to the host university. Studies carried out abroad are recognized by the student´s home university.
Bilateral agreements, in general, do not include any financial support, although programs for scholarships and grants may exist for specific destinations. (for example, the Bank of Santander Grants and Scholarships)
I. ERASMUS+ Exchange:
Call for Applications: At the start of each academic year, a call for Erasmus+ study grants is published for the following academic year.
Information Sessions: All of the Schools and Faculties organize information days on which they give information about possible destinations, requirements, selection criteria, validation of modules, and other information of interest (please ask in your School or Faculty).
Application: The exchange application must be completed on-line, printed, and once signed by the student, submitted in the place indicated on the form, before the deadline which is stated.
Selection: Each School or Faculty in the University will publish the lists of students selected to carry out a study exchange.
Acceptance of the Place for Exchange: Once selected, the student must submit his or her acceptance or rejection in writing to the International Relations Coordinator of his or her School or Faculty, within the period indicated in each case.
Medical Insurance: Before starting the exchange, the student must contact the National Social Security Institute and request the European Health Insurance Card. If the student has an insurance policy other than Social Security, he or she must be informed of the steps to follow by the insurance company in question. We strongly recommend that students take out an insurance policy which covers accidents and civil liability in addition to their insurance policy which covers health and medical care.
In any case, the student must take out and travel with the insurance policy that the host university requires.
Documents:
1. Before Starting the Exchange (Steps to Follow before Departure)
Please read the "Student Mobility for Erasmus+ Higher Education Study Support Agreement" carefully, fill it in, sign it and submit it to the International Relations Service (Alberto Aguilera 32).
Then complete the appropriate part of the Learning Agreement (the document called "Before the Mobility"), including the subjects in which you plan to enroll when abroad, in consultation with the Coordinator or Head of Studies of your School/Faculty. This part of the Learning Agreement should be approved by the Coordinator at the host institution before departure.
Please read Annex II and Annex III of the Agreement: General Conditions and Erasmus Student Letter.
You should take the appropriate Language Test to determine your level for the language in which you will study during the exchange, by using the tool called OLS (On-line Linguistic Support). The results of this evaluation will have no effect on acceptance for the exchange, whatever the results may be.
2. During your Stay at the Host University.
If you need to make changes in your Learning Agreement, you should be authorized by your Coordinator at Comillas and by the Coordinator who has been assigned to you at the host university. These results will be included in the "Learning Agreement" part of the Learning Agreement.
Before returning to Madrid, you should ask your Coordinator at the host university to sign and stamp Section I of the "After the Mobility" part of the Learning Agrement. The date on which you began and finished the exchange will be included here. It is very important to have this document signed on the last day of your stay at the institution.
Make sure that the host university sends your grades by post to your coordinator at Comillas.
3. After Returning to Comillas ("After the Mobility")
You should take an on-line final evaluation of language ability.
You should complete a final on-line report (EU Questionnaire).
You should hand in the following documents to the Dean´s Office in your Faculty, or to the Coordinator in your School:
4. Payment of your Financial Aid.
Scholarships and grants from the European Union exist to support Erasmus+ Mobility. These grants are managed by the University, and beneficiaries receive them in two payments. The first payment comprises 70% of the total, taking into account the approximate duration of the exchange period mobility, followed by a final payment, which is calculated on the basis of the real duration of the exchange period mobility, with a maximum period of aid for a total of 7 months.
II. BILATERAL Exchange:
Information Days: All of the Schools and Faculties organize information days at which they give information about possible destinations, requirements, selection criteria, validation of modules, and other information of interest (please ask in your School or Faculty).
Application: The Exchange Application must be filled out on-line, printed, and after being signed by the student, it must be submitted in the place indicated on the form, before the deadline which is stated.
Selection: The selection of candidates who are authorized to carry out an exchange will be made by those responsible in each School or Faculty of the University. They will publish the lists of the students selected.
Acceptance of the Place for Exchange: Once selected, the student must submit his or her acceptance or rejection in writing to the International Relations Coordinator of his or her School or Faculty, within the period indicated in each field of studies.
Medical Insurance: Before starting the exchange, the student must consult with the host university about taking out the appropriate private insurance policy.
Time-Line for Submitting Documents:
The deadline for on-line completion of the Student Report (first semester students) is February 1st.
The deadline for on-line completion of the Student Report (students with an exchange for the entire academic year) is June 30.
Documents:
1. Before the Exchange:
Complete the Learning Agreement with the modules in which you plan to enroll when abroad (Learning Agreement) with the Coordinator or Head of Studies of your School/Faculty and take it with you for approval by the Coordinator of the host university.
2. During your Stay at the Host University:
Show your Study Agreement to the Coordinator who has been assigned to you so that he or she can sign it. Remember that if you would like to make any changes to the Study Agreement, you must have the authorization of your Coordinator at Comillas.
Please make sure that the host university sends your grades by post to Comillas.

Susana da Costa Alves, Executive MBA. Inside Kenya
“The great variety of cultures, ethnicities, and races which mix in the heart of NY have given me a more international view of the world and have helped me to understand the phenomenon of globalization, which was a common thread in the different seminars. Starting from these concepts, we can explain how a bank like SCH, which started in a small city in Spain, can have one of its branches near Fifth Avenue in New York.”
“In the end we were at the hearing of another drugs offense, like in a film, with the prosecutor cross-examining the witnesses. Then the defense attorney tried to defend his client, with the witness swearing he was telling the truth and nothing but the truth. I enjoyed it much more than I thought I would. There is only a week left on the course now and I am very sad because I am having a great time with all the friends I have made, and the group leaders do everything they can to make sure it all goes well.”
"Inside Tech USA is a technical and theoretical experience that really lets you delve further. IW has opened my mind to the global working of companies and corporations. We have had the chance to meet other Engineers, and to speak directly with important executives and senior officers... I really recommend this course, not just for its prestige but also because of its dynamics, to anyone who has concerns and motivations in life; at the end of the day, you can't just stand still.”
Jaime Rodríguez Macías, Inside China
This was a course which covered all aspects of Chinese culture to give you those first general ideas which let you go into more depth in a specific area. That is one of the big advantages and major benefits that the course gave us: giving us a good general foundation about the country as a basis for studying or working on the subject. What does the average Spanish student know about China?
Frequently asked questions:
What level of English do I need in order to make the most of the course?
It is important to be able to speak and understand English fluently. Apart from certain visits to multilateral organizations and diplomatic missions, the majority of the program is in English, including both the seminars and the question and answer sessions.
What is the accommodation like?
All students are housed in apartments on the university campus, usually consisting of two double rooms.
Are there any other requirements, apart from attending the courses?
Attending the courses is compulsory and is an essential requirement to obtain the diploma. Another essential requirement is to write a report or paper of at least six pages before completing the program. This should summarize the course, developing in particular some of the themes covered and reflecting on Jesuit education and the role that each individual should play in society.
Is there any kind of extra activity apart from the seminars?
In their free time students can organize visits to places of tourist and cultural interest, as well as receptions and meetings with professionals, sporting activities, culinary outings, etc.
Is there medical insurance?
Yes, Comillas provides medical insurance for each participant in case of illness or accident with coverage in the host country. It is very important for participants to mention any illness they might have or medical treatment they are receiving which might require attention during the journey and stay.
What is a typical day like?
Seminars and interviews are generally organized in the mornings, the first starting at 9:00 am. The majority of the seminars take place in different areas of the city for each program. Each day usually ends at 5:00 pm. The rest of the time, students are free to carry out any activity and spend time with other students from the different universities and the program.
The Inside Club (Studies and International Relations Association) is a meeting point for all former and new participants on the Inside Programs.
The Studies and International Relations Association - Inside Club is an association without political or religious affiliation which promotes a variety of activities relating to different fields such as Economics, Politics, Technological Advances, and the Professional World.
It was created following an initiative by a group of students taking part in the Inside Programs, with the aim of continuing the interesting experiences of the course abroad after arrival in Spain. The central core of this activity is the promotion of international relations through seminars, studies, meetings, and publications.
This association is run by and for its members. Any participant on the Inside Programs can apply to be registered as a member of the Inside Club. Members are given numerous advantages such as access to activities at entities affiliated with the Club, priority in attendance at the various events organized, inclusion in our jobs pool, and receipt of our publications.
The committees are the various groups which are in charge of organizing the activities which the club aims to carry out. They are managed by a Director and have a number of members as permanent collaborators. As well as this, all members may collaborate on an ad hoc basis with any of the committees.
These are the four committees:

OAS Internship Program (Organization of American States)
The student must accept the grant at the International Relations Service within a maximum of 10 days counting from when the interested party is informed.
If after the period indicated, the student withdraws without good cause, he or she can be penalized by preventing future participation in Erasmus calls or other exchange programs and, if appropriate, with other sanctions which each center deems relevant.
If the internship does not take place or is shorter than agreed, the student must return the full amount received (in cases of force majeure, partial return for the period of work experience not completed can be requested).
The recipient of the grant, before starting the internship, must sign the Support Agreement.
The recipient must also complete and sign the Learning Agreement which will be agreed between the company, the student, and the University before starting the internship.
80% of the value of the grant will be paid into the bank account of the student doing the internship in the month following receipt of the documents mentioned above.
Before starting the internship, it is compulsory for the student to perform an on-line language level test which must be repeated at the end of the internship.
Said test will be taken once the final part of the Learning Agreement has been submitted to the International Relations Service and the on-line EU Questionnaire has been completed within 30 calendar days of the invitation to complete it.
The grant awards will be publicly announced within a period of no more than 30 days from the end of the application period, on the notice boards of the International Relations Service and the center in question, and on this website in the “Documents” section, including the list of holders and substitutes, in order of points.
Comillas Pontifical University will give full academic recognition for the foreign internship period completed in accordance with the conditions of the call, through recognition of credits and/or, if appropriate, the European Diploma Supplement.
To apply for the grants
Complete the Erasmus Work Experience Grant Application form or Appendix I and present it in the manner and place stated on the application.
These obligations are contained, in general, in the “Quality commitment” which is submitted along with the Support Agreement and are, primarily, as follows:

If the number of applications is greater than the number of grants available, they will be assigned according to the following criteria which will be evaluated by the International Internships Commission.
When awarding the grants, priority will be given to students whose internships are offered through the faculty or school, through the International Relations Service, and through the Internship and Careers Office of the University.
To apply for the grant the student must carry out the following steps:
The International Relations Service will inform you of the documentation and remaining steps necessary to attain the grant.
Students who participate in this call give their express consent for their personal and academic data to be provided by the University to the host company.
You must contact the International Internship Coordinator of the course or center, who will check the appropriateness of the internship, that the company meets the requirements for taking part in the program, and the internship is appropriate for the student's training and academic record.
Furthermore, the student must go to the International Relations Service which will provide information about the documentation and steps to follow to attain the grant.
The grants are issued for carrying out internships in companies, training centers, research centers, and other organizations located in the 27 member states of the European Union, in the three countries which are part of the European Economic Area (Iceland, Liechtenstein, and Norway), and in Turkey and Croatia.
The following types of organization are not considered eligible host bodies:
Business internships can be found in two ways:
Once an offer of an internship has been obtained, the student will request approval for the internship, before the end of the grant application period, from the International Internship Coordinator of his or her center.
During their studies, students may spend a maximum of twelve months on Erasmus Study and Erasmus Work Placement grants.
Students can benefit from an Erasmus Study Grant and an Erasmus Work Placement Grant in the same academic year, on condition that they are not carried out simultaneously.
The Erasmus Work Placement Grant can be combined with other possible national or regional co-financing, but cannot be combined with the Erasmus.es support from the Spanish Ministry of Education which finances internships. It can also be combined with any other payment in money or in kind provided by the company.
The purpose of the support is to contribute to covering the additional costs deriving from the student's mobility on placement, principally travel and maintenance costs, and during their stay in the destination country.
The value of the grant depends on the destination country. There are 3 groups of countries with support which varies between 300 and 400 euros.
The internships will, in general, have a duration of 3 months, and must be completed before September 30, 2015.
The application period is open, in other words you can obtain an Erasmus Work Placement Grant as long as there are grants available. Until November 30, 2014 the quota of grants assigned to faculties will be respected. From that date, any student on any course with an internship in line with this call can obtain the grant, in order of application.
The student must fulfill the following prerequisites:
The objective of these grants is to complete a period of residence and work experience for 3 months (2 months in exceptional cases) in a company or organization in another participating country, to help students adapt to the demands of the labor market at a European level by acquiring specific aptitudes, and improving their understanding of the economic and social context of the country in question, at the same time as acquiring work experience.
These are internships of 3 months in European companies and are financed by the European Commission.

To provide students with practical learning in the sense of innovation in 4IR and ICT for a hyper globalized world.
The student will develop the ability to use the innovation of the 4IR as a business and professional capacity for the current and future competitiveness of enterprises, using state-of-the-art tools and technologies.
You will also realize that these 4IR technologies can have an equally transforming impact on both people and the planet. Making the 4IR a sustainable revolution is the opportunity of this young generation: changes in the systems needed to deliver a clean, safe and inclusive economy can be driven by this technology. The 4IR leader position will be key to addressing the urgent problems of our planet: environmental, social and economic challenges.
Finally, the current business context requires the intensive use of information for strategic decision making. This represents a new challenge for organizations that face the need to identify, manage and exploit information in order to create present and future value. In this new environment, Big Data and Business Intelligence will be presented to the student as instruments for a new reality of competitiveness and redefinition of business management.
The program is designed as an ideal training complement to the different areas of knowledge taken by the student.
A diploma will be awarded by the university.
