Victories in national and international tournaments

In academic format, the Club has been proclaimed champion in six tournaments, including the Kolvenbach International Tournament, the LEDU of IURE, and high-level competitions such as those organised by the University of the Basque Country, the University of Alicante or the University Carlos III of Madrid.

In the British Parliamentary (BP) format, an international victory was achieved in the Military Corps Cup in Peru, as well as three runner-up finishes in the tournaments of Granada, Elías Ahuja (Madrid) and Regenta (Oviedo).

In public speaking, the team won first place in the European Speech Contest (IE) and in the prestigious World PublicSpeaking Championship, held at the University of Belgrano (Argentina).

Outstanding presence in the semi-finals and international mentions

The team's career has also been marked by an extensive presence in the semi-finals, including the classification in the Spanish University Debate League (LEDU), held in Melilla, as well as in emblematic tournaments such as those of the Balearic Islands, Beato Gárate (Bilbao), SAFA Úbeda, Isabel de España, Cicerón, Francisco de Vitoria University and the Adolfo Suárez Tournament.

Internationally, the team obtained 3rd place as the best Spanish-speaking team in the World Universities Debate Championship, the most important tournament in the world, held this year in Panama.

Individual recognition and institutional growth

Individual achievements have also been remarkable:

  • 27 awards for best speakers or outstanding interventions.
  • 16 mentions in Model United Nations (MUN), including the award for Best Delegate in LIMUN (London), one of the most prestigious MUNs in Europe.

In parallel, the Club has maintained its commitment to internal training, with more than 230 participants in tournaments organised within the university, with the XIV Rector's Trophy being the largest to date, with 80 participants.

For its part, the new Diplomacy Club, in its first year of activity, has had 179 registered members and has organised more than 200 participations in events and visits, consolidating itself as a space for training and internationalisation for the student body.

An unprecedented milestone

This academic year, Comillas has become the first club in history to win four qualifying tournaments in the same academic year in the Spanish University Debate League, a milestone that reinforces the solidity and projection of the team on the national scene.

With an increasingly large, committed and educated community, the Comillas Debate Club and the Comillas Diplomacy Club continue to demonstrate that the word, critical thinking and international commitment are fundamental pillars of the university experience.
