The new Chair will carry out research in an interdisciplinary manner on several aspects that converge in poverty as linked to energy: the technological, social, business and legal aspects of this problem
The Universidad Pontificia Comillas ICAI-ICADE has just formalized the creation of the Chair for Energy and Poverty, whose objective will be to contribute to the search and implementation of solutions to the problem of poverty, specifically, in the area related to energy. The Chair wishes to accommodate all of the social agents involved, including top-tier energy companies such as Endesa, Gas Natural Fenosa, through its Foundation, EDP and the Spanish Gas Association (Sedigas), the body that represents the Gas Sector in Spain, and social entities such as the Tomillo Foundation or FUNCAS, and NGOs such as ACA, ATD Fourth World, Cáritas, Red Cross, EAPN (European Network for the Fight against Poverty) and Energy without Borders.
"The new Chair will focus its action in two directions. We will carry out research in an interdisciplinary fashion, focusing on social reality, and we will serve as a meeting point to facilitate contact between entities and people involved in the fight against poverty in the field of energy, "explained Efraim Centeno, Director of the Chair. This means that different areas of the university will be added (Engineering, Social Work, Law, Business), which will allow for a viewpoint that reaches beyond the approaches of each discipline.
