Comillas INEA presents a renewed training program at its Doors Open Days
The program includes three complementary professional profiles: agricultural engineer, manager and industrial engineer
11 February 2026
The Comillas INEA School of Agricultural and Agro-environmental Engineering, in Valladolid, held a new edition of its Doors Open Days, a meeting aimed at future students and their families in which a renewed training program was presented, which will begin to be taught in the 2026/2027 academic year.
The academic proposal is structured around three complementary professional profiles - agricultural engineer, business manager and industrial engineer - designed to respond to the real needs of the agri-food sector. With this update, Comillas INEA reinforces its commitment to comprehensive training, connected to business, innovation and the technological challenges of the productive environment.
The new program expands the current offer of the Bachelor's Degree in Agricultural and Agro-environmental Engineering (GIAA) and incorporates two new degrees: the dual Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration and Management + Agricultural and Agro-environmental Engineering (E2 + GIAA), which integrates the technical basis of engineering with the strategic vision and business management; and the Bachelor's Degree in Engineering in Industrial Technologies with a focus on Agro-food Industry (GITI Agro), oriented towards the application of advanced industrial solutions throughout the agri-food chain. This combination makes it possible to train professionals capable of entrepreneurship, managing organisations, leading innovation processes or designing and implementing technological solutions that improve the efficiency and sustainability of the sector.
The day began with a meeting with Comillas INEA alumni who shared their professional careers and their vision of the future. Participants included José Luis Olmedo, manager of innovation projects at Cosechas de Galicia; Natalia Aguilera, director of Cooperativas Agroalimentarias de Andalucía; Eloy Álvarez, viticulture technician at Grupo Yllera; Clara Vázquez de Prada, plant manager at UVESA; and Juan Leyes, agricultural engineer at Agrícola Castellana. Their speeches highlighted the wide range of professional opportunities and the growing demand for hybrid profiles, capable of integrating technical knowledge, business vision and commitment to sustainability.
After the academic presentation, attendees were able to participate in various workshops designed to bring them closer to engineering: How does a GPS work, Looking for the DNA in a banana, Controlling to feed: agro-industrial engineering in action or Here there is no plug, only chemistry.
At the same time, the participants attended the round table discussion A place for companies, moderated by the Director of Comillas INEA, Pedro Piedras. Representatives from leading companies in the agri-food sector took part, reflecting on university-business collaboration and the need to train professionals who are prepared to face existing challenges.
The conference concluded with the presentation of the project for the new Comillas INEA building, which is scheduled to open in 2029. This new infrastructure will reinforce the school's training model. In it, proximity, professional reality, practical training, comprehensive training and personalised accompaniment will converge.
With this Program, Comillas INEA consolidates its commitment to training that integrates technical knowledge, management skills and industrial vision, at the service of a strategic sector for the economy and sustainable development.
