Comillas hosted an inspiring talk with Alberto Longo, entrepreneur and co-founder of Formula E, who shared his fascinating journey in the world of motorsport, from its beginnings to his vision for the future of the automotive industry.
During the meeting, Longo told the students how his career started unexpectedly in his uncle's office, but took a surprising turn thanks to a tip from Flavio Briatore, who told him about a young driver who was unknown at the time: Fernando Alonso. This comment led him to make a bet on acquiring the rights to broadcast Formula 1 in Spain, at a time when Alonso was on the verge of becoming a global phenomenon.
The speaker also discussed the monumental challenges involved in the creation of Formula E, an all-electric motorsport category. In just 14 months, and following the requirements of the FIA, the team led by Longo managed to design the cars, build the infrastructure and establish the circuits necessary to launch this innovative championship.
This was a unique opportunity for the students to hear first-hand experience from an expert in modern motorsport, and to be inspired by his ability to take on challenges and transform the industry.
