Energy Cross Paths: the future of energy
Comillas and Eraneos talked about the challenges to set up the energy map of the future
23 June 2023
Comillas and the energy consultancy Eraneos celebrated the Energy Cross Paths, a conference in which they analysed the future of energy through a series of round tables and presentations. Some of the sector's leading companies and executives took part in these conferences, which addressed the major issues that are having an impact on the configuration of the energy map of the future.
Two lecturers from Comillas who specialise in finance took part in the conference. Elisa Aracil, lecturer in Economics at Comillas ICADE and researcher at the Institute for Research in Technology, where she coordinates the Smart Management for Sustainability group, moderated the round table "Sustainability and purpose as value drivers", which brought together representatives from Sacyr, Ferrovial, Cepsa and Soltec. All of them agreed that "in a highly competitive market, issues related to corporate governance, purpose and sustainability (ESG) are becoming increasingly important". They also stressed "the need to align the internal purpose with the brand and give back to society what it gives us".
Luis Garvía, Director of the Official Master's Degree in Financial Risk Management at Comillas ICADE, was in charge of moderating AXPO Iberia and Powen's interventions at the round table "David versus Goliath. Incumbents vs. new players". It analysed the delicate balance between traditional companies and the new digital native companies that are changing the rules of the game.
Both speakers highlighted that "the energy sector is witnessing a crucial moment, with multiple players on the same stage: 'traditional' companies that seek differentiation through customer experience and purpose; startups that seek to broaden their user and customer base; and consumers who want clarity on their bills and are concerned about the future of the planet".
All the experts assembled at Comillas agreed that "we are in the midst of an energy transition: the sector is facing a great challenge and must be up to the circumstances", and that, in addition, "investors are focusing on issues related to corporate governance and sustainability".
With this initiative, Comillas tackles relevant issues with top-level professionals from different sectors and seeks relevant conclusions that will move the economy forward.
