Comillas reaffirms its leadership in teaching and learning and consolidates its position amongst Spain’s top universities in the CYD 2026 Ranking
The university meets 21 high-performance indicators and also stands out for its international reach, student mobility and the employment prospects of its graduates

Comillas Pontifical University has once again been ranked amongst the top ten institutions in the Spanish university system in the thirteenth edition of the CYD 2026 Ranking, in which it reaffirms its position as a benchmark in teaching and learning, consolidating an educational model centred on teaching quality, personalised attention and the all-round development of students.
In this edition, Comillas remains Spain’s top university in the Teaching and Learning category, leading the indicators that measure the quality of teaching, the learning environment and academic outcomes, as well as the university’s ability to support the academic and professional development of its students.
The CYD Ranking, which analyses the performance of 84 universities based on 36 indicators grouped into different categories, places Comillas in the top ten universities with the highest number of indicators in the ‘high performance’ category, with a total of 21 outstanding indicators.
This result consolidates Comillas’ position as a university that excels in various fields and highlights the institution’s progress in indicators such as the ‘Sexenios’, which demonstrate progress in knowledge generation and in the recognition of its academic staff’s research activity.
Results by subject area and international dimension
In the analysis by fields of knowledge, Comillas achieves strong rankings in areas of high academic and social demand, consolidating its prestige in key disciplines. Thus, the university ranks second in Business Administration and Management (BAM) — where it also stands out as a leader in international focus —and fifth in Sociology, Law and Political Science, confirming the strength and competitiveness of Comillas’s academic programmes in the social and legal sciences.
Furthermore, in the field of Law, Comillas excels particularly in graduate employment, where it ranks amongst the universities with the best results, reflecting the high employability of its graduates and the university’s close links with the professional world.
Likewise, Comillas continues to excel in the area of international focus, particularly with regard to student mobility, one of the key indicators of the CYD Ranking which measures universities’ ability to offer international academic experiences and foster their students’ global outlook.
What is the CYD Ranking?
The CYD Ranking (by the Knowledge and Development Foundation) is the most comprehensive university ranking produced in Spain. It assesses more than 80 Spanish universities — both public and private — using a methodology based on 36 indicators grouped into categories such as teaching and learning, research, knowledge transfer, international focus, contribution to regional development and graduate employment. Its multidimensional approach allows for an accurate comparison of universities’ performance across different areas and tailors the results to the interests of each user.
These results reflect the commitment to a well-rounded, international and high-quality education, based on a close relationship with students, innovation in teaching and the progressive strengthening of its research activity.
