Comillas hosts the Madrid University Chess Championship
The tournament, with a record participation of over 100 chess players, brought together students from 18 different universities

The Madrid University Chess Championship gathered 107 chess players from 18 Madrid universities in the gymnasium of Alberto Aguilera. A championship organized by the Comillas Wellbeing service, in collaboration with the Community of Madrid and the Madrid Chess Federation, which stood out for its high level of play.

In the honor roll, the Autonomous University of Madrid took the victory in the team classification, followed by the King Juan Carlos University and the Polytechnic University of Madrid. At the individual level, Álvaro Rodríguez (Autonomous University of Madrid) was crowned champion, with Gabriel Quispe (Autonomous University of Madrid) in second place and Alejandro García (King Juan Carlos University) in third place.
In the women's category, Cecilia Guillo (Complutense University) took first place, followed by Lucía Gil (King Juan Carlos University) and Claudia Insua (Nebrija University).
The performance of the representatives from the Pontifical University Comillas in the Rector's Trophy also stood out, with Rafael Pujante, Julián Recuanco, and Alfonso Guzmán occupying the podium.
The awards ceremony was conducted by José Manuel Sáenz Rotko, assistant to the vice-rector of Identity and Mission and Students and Alumni, and Roberto Pérez, director of Comillas Wellbeing. The university thanks the federation for its effort and willingness, ensuring a fair development in accordance with chess regulations. Additionally, the competition was supported and sponsored by Clarins, P&G, Chef Fruit, Lacasitos, and Grupo Isondos.
