Our goal is to enable our students to acquire the professional skills in accordance with Law 34/2006 and its Royal Decree 775/2011, and pass the national entrance test to be convened annually by the Ministries of Justice and Education, which is the final requirement, once the Master's Degree has been awarded, to be admitted to the bar. Furthermore, we also seek to train professionals with high levels of excellence in the practice of law that have a clear understanding of the characteristics and challenges of the profession in the 21st century in addition to a comprehensive and in-depth level of specialization in the field of Corporate Law.

The teaching methodology is based on the case method, understood as the use of teaching tools that are very close or virtually identical to those employed in the professional practice of law in the field of Corporate Law. Thus, the students engage in trial simulations, preparation of legal documents, negotiations, etc. Our aim is to train future professionals on what it means to be a lawyer and its social implications, as well as to master the tools that they will use as lawyers and gain a deeper understanding of the field of Corporate Law, with particular emphasis on litigation as a tool to develop not only their procedural capabilities as future lawyers, but also other essential profession-specific skills.

This dual programme of Master's Degree for Admission to the Bar-Business Law has a duration of two academic years (one year and a half). The first academic year, comprising theoretical-practical training, starts at the beginning of October and ends at the end of June. The second academic year, in which both the Final Projects and Internships are undertaken, starts in September and ends at the end of January. Classes take place on Monday and Tuesday mornings and on Monday-Friday afternoons.

TEACHING STAFF Official Master's Degree for Admission to the Bar

TEACHING STAFF Official Master's Degree in Corporate Law

Professional opportunities are all those allowing the student to develop a professional career as lawyers, either in law offices or legal boutiques, in litigation or procedural activities, but also those that comprise the whole spectrum of the provision of legal assistance, and therefore, internal and external advice to companies, whether in civil, bankruptcy, criminal, contentious-administrative and labour legal areas.

Master's Degree for Admission to the Bar gives access to the bar, pursuant to provisions of Act 34/2006 and Royal Decree 775/2011.

Regarding the Graduate profile of this Master's Programme, said profile is defined by the competences the students are expected to reach by means of this Master's Programme. With this programme, graduates obtain the knowledge, skills and tools required for the profession of lawyer which allow them to know how to operate in a very specific area of legal professions, such as the area of law practice, with special focus on the instruments and techniques, such as reasoning, communication, oratory, writing and negotiation and the use of new technologies in that area of studies, as well as on the procedural strategy, litigation and alternative dispute-resolution systems.

Also, graduates of the University Master's Degree in Business Law are experts in Business Law and have developed a practical, comprehensive view, based on ethical values, of the different areas that converge on it.

That is why the programme offers graduates a comprehensive reinforcement and a greater level of specialisation of knowledge gained in the Degree in Law, by means of specialised training in Business Law, Commercial contracts, Capital transactions, Banking and stock market Law, Labour Law, Tax and Fiscal Law, Competition Law, Intellectual Property and Company Litigation, among others.

All this without relinquishing the development of other competencies different than academic ones, such as discipline, decisiveness, team work, capacity to adapt, sense of service and generosity, solidarity spirit... and the observance of ethical standards applicable to each case.

Therefore, graduates develop a great capacity to identify, analyse, reflect and solve complex legal issues arising within the scope of business organisations.

The faculty is comprised of active professionals having extensive academic and professional experience (registrars, notaries public, managers of legal advice firms working for major companies or lawyers working for the most prestigious law firms, among others); this provides graduates with a practical, current approach.

In sum, graduates of the University Master's Degree in Business Law have a solid training for their development and promotion, both regarding personal and professional aspects, which allows them to fulfil their professional goals within the business arena.

The Master's Degree for Admission to the Bar (ICADE) includes three excellence elements:

  1. A clearly professional-oriented education, based on case method.
  2. An oriented internship process, that allows students to access the entity that best meets their profile and interests.
  3. A specific workshop for the preparation of the exam.

Also, the programme has an excellent team of professors, with clearly professional profile. Given the fact that this University Master's Degree in Business Law is a dual degree taught by the Universidad Pontificia de Comillas and the Universidad de Deusto, it offers the best team of professors from both universities. You will achieve the main competencies for developing and specialising in the business legal area, together with a mainly practical training approach to the business legal reality. The programme covers all kind of subjects, necessary for specialising in this area of knowledge, such as contracts, business financing, capital transactions, etc.
