The Specialist Degree in Methodology and Assessment of English Teaching and Learning in the Classroom is given in conjunction with ECM (Catholic Schools of Madrid) as a training program for people who are in Spain working on the BEDA Program as Conversation Assistants with the aim of better accommodating their needs and interests.
This course aims to provide training on Spanish education and culture to people, primarily from the United States and Canada, who come to Spain with this aim, as well as to work on the BEDA Program that ECM (Catholic Schools of Madrid) has been implementing in schools for some years with the goal of enhancing English teaching.
What is the BEDA program?
The BEDA program aims to implement and optimize the effectiveness of English teaching in school. It aims to do so, essentially, using three core ideas: qualitative and quantitative increase in English teaching, programming specific training for teachers and carrying out an assessment that is external to the student body and members of the educational community of the school with an assessor of great prestige, just as Cambridge ESOL.
It consists of gradually introducing bilingual Spanish-English teaching, with the nature of an educational project which strengthens and expands certain aspects of the linguistic educational life of the school, the curriculum and the school environment.
(Approved by the Governing Board in the session held on 26 March 2012 and modified in the session of 25 April 2016). The program is taught over a period of two years, by completing the following blocks of courses during each academic year:
FIRST ACADEMIC YEAR:
Total credits for Theoretical-Practical Training Modules: 23 ECTS
Total credits - Internships: 7.5 ECTS
SECOND ACADEMIC YEAR:
Total credits for Theoretical-Practical Training Modules: 22 ECTS
Total credits - Internships: 7.5 ECTS
The value awarded to an ECTS credit for Internships will be based on 20 hours of presence in an educational institution, plus 10 hours of self-directed and supervised work by the student, in addition to tutorial sessions.
