Prosegur, the new sponsoring company of the Chair for Smart Industry
Comillas and Prosegur join forces as partners in an agreement to build relations and share knowledge

Prosegur, the leading company in private security in Spain, has joined as a sponsor of the Chair for Smart Industry at Comillas Pontifical University. Christian Gut, Managing Director of Prosegur, Julio L. Martinez, Rector of Comillas Pontifical University, and Mariano Ventosa, Vice-Chancellor for Research and Internationalization of Comillas Pontifical University and Co-Director of the Chair for Smart Industry all attended the signing of the agreement.
The Chair brings together among its sponsors the country’s leading companies in their respective sectors. Thanks to the joining of Prosegur, the Chair is strengthened as a space where the intersection between technology sponsors, industrial companies, and new professional profiles promotes synergies, where engaging connections are established and knowledge is shared in ways that are as innovative as effective.
According to Mariano Ventosa: “Prosegur is a world leader in private security enjoying business models which are able to exploit digital technologies. For the Chair, the membership of Prosegur to the group of sponsoring companies means including a privileged partner in order to continue contributing so that Spanish economy takes advantage of the opportunities provided by the fourth industrial revolution.”
The joining of Prosegur to the Chair for Smart Industry comes after the company’s launching of an intense transformation process aimed, among other factors, at building new security solutions based on the possibilities provided by current technologies. In this process, where data and its management stand as an increasingly relevant asset, the security group is incorporating and combining different technologies, such as Internet of Things (IoT), augmented reality, blockchain or artificial intelligence in order to bring a highly innovative security proposal to the market.
Against this background, José Daniel García Espinel, Director of Innovation at Prosegur, highlighted “the importance for Prosegur of participating in a forum such as the Chair for Smart Industry. In 2017, the School of Engineering (Comillas ICAI) at Comillas Pontifical University, in collaboration with ten relevant industrial and technological companies, created the Chair for Smart Industry, aiming at taking advantage of the opportunities provided by the Fourth Industrial Revolution, characterised by the intensive use of the new digital technologies, and at facilitating the digital transformation.
Codirected by Mariano Ventosa, Vice Chancellor for Research and Internationalisation at Comillas Pontifical University, and by Bernardo Villazán, president of the 4.0 Industry Observatory, the Chair seeks to be a meeting point for Sponsoring Companies, and professors and researchers, who are experts of the Chair in experiences, opportunities, risks and solutions in the “Fourth Industrial Revolution”, thus creating an informative, updated, and specialised platform in order to spread information and encourage debate on Smart Industry in Spain.
