What can refugees contribute to the host society? Two American students have tried to answer this question through an artistic initiative that signals the contributions of refugees from different countries and historical times in the fields of culture, industry, science or gastronomy.
Works by musicians such as Freddy Mercury, Chopin or Bob Marley; by writers like Victor Hugo or Anne Frank, or inventions like birth control, relativity theory or the Mini, have been labeled by the two artists in shops and public places, remembering that all their creators had something in common: they had to flee, for one reason or another, from their country of origin.
#MadeByRefugee is an artistic initiative through which its authors, Kien Quan and Jillian Young, seek to send a message against discrimination towards refugees and recall the valuable contribution they can make to the host country.
