On 11 May, the Director of the Chair in Economic and Business Ethics, José Luis Fernández Fernández, will take part in the XXII Course on Human Values which comprises Axiology Studies. He will lead a conference entitled "Values in Business Management". It is a comprehensive course that starts on 8 April 2015 and finishes on 11 May of the same year.
In the main hall with more than 400 attendees, on behalf of Spain and Latin America, José Luis Fernández Fernández presented 'Catarsis', the second book by Eduardo Gismera, lecturer of the Chair in Economic and Business Ethics. The author was grateful for the kindness shown by all members of the Chair. A book written from the opposite perspective of fear to encourage ethical behavior in modern organizations. Corporate Excellence holds their Corporate Governance Conference on Thursday, 5 March, 10.00 to 13.00, in the García Polavieja Room at ICADE. The recommendations document from the Spanish National Securities Market Commission (CNMV) on the Code of Good Governance reform is soon to be published and involves a step forward for Spanish Corporate Governance reports. The Corporate Social Consultancy and Comillas Solidaria, organize the seminar "The role of entrepreneurship as a force behind transformation". After an introductory session in which some thought will be given to what exclusion means nowadays, the Seminar will analyze the role of the company and entrepreneurs as agents for changing realities in different fields of exclusion (social, economic, cultural and geographic). Therefore, it entails answering questions such as: What role does the company play in minimizing inequalities? In the economic empowerment of employees? In building a more just world? The seminar will end with a session to present the progress achieved this year by the Corporate Social Consultancy, and the projects and challenges set for the 2015/2016 academic year.
“El profesional de las finanzas es un agente moral” [The finance professional is a moral figure] The financial ethics book was presented in Comillas and forms part of the Professional Ethics Collection which is promoted by UNIJES. It aims to create a fairer society in which money is made by contributing value. The ICADE Corporate Social Consultancy presents its initiative “Innovaciong” on 28 October at 09:00. The ICADE Corporate Social Consultancy is a project under the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration via the Chair in Economic and Business Ethics. This initiative is composed of four companies of recognized standing and experience in working with people at risk of exclusion, and aims to establish a "cluster" of thought on how to act in the most efficient way when carrying out tasks. On 17 September, Professor José Luis Fernández Fernández took part in the presentation of the Shared Value Report of the ONCE Foundation, after having been invited by the President of the ONCE Group of Companies and Foundation. During the ceremony, which was attended by numerous key figures, topics were addressed including the importance of creating employment, people management or the necessary value networks.
In its Madrid edition on 15 September 2014, the daily newspaper El Mundo published a piece entitled "La revolución empieza en la Empresa" [Revolution begins in business] which stated that professionals, academics and social organizations are showing glimpses of a new corporate commitment model that places ethical values ahead of immediate profit. Among the people referenced are Almudena Rodríguez Beloso, Fernando Riaño Riaño and José Luis Fernández Fernández.
The IV Edition of the Doctoral Student Workshop, organized by the Chair in Economic and Business Ethics at Comillas Pontifical University, has begun. On 2 and 3 of July, several Doctoral students will discuss matters such as ethics and anthropology, logic of the gift and economic institutions, comprehensive evaluation of microfinance entities, corporate narrative, quality and information measurement techniques, among many more. They will be accompanied by senior members of the Chair and distinguished guests.
On 12 June at 18:30, the trialog "Encuentro Ética y Empresa" [When Ethics and Business Meet] took place in the Conference Hall at Alberto Aguilera, 23. It was moderated by Mr. Antonio José García-Escribano Cruz, President of the López Quintás Foundation, and included speakers such as Mr. Mario Alonso Puig, general and digestive system surgeon and expert in communication and leadership, and José Luis Fernández Fernández, Director of the Chair in Economic and Business Ethics at Comillas Pontifical University.
On 29 May, José Antonio Marquina visited our Chair in Ethics and we had the pleasure of listening to him in the Conference Hall at 19.00 where he spoke about the Sustainability Debate on "Education in the 21st Century". José Antonio Marina is a substitute professor of philosophy in La Cabrera Institute in Madrid, and received an honorary doctorate degree from the Polytechnic University of Valencia. He studied philosophy at the Complutense University of Madrid with his friend, Alvaro Pombo.
On 29 May at 11.00, the I Corporanza Awards for Corporate Social Responsibility were held so that this leading ecological cleaning organization and the Chair in Economic and Business Ethics could pay tribute to the good management of SMEs, inventors, start-ups and entrepreneurial projects of this nature in the regional Community of Madrid.

The Chair in Economic and Business Ethics researcher, Marta González Álvarez, author of the guide 'Más responsables entre todos'[more responsible among us all] with which the Chamber of Commerce and the City Council of Burgos want to promote the implementation of Corporate Social Responsibility in new SMEs in the city. Recently appointed a member of the Advisor on CSR for SME in the guide the researcher includes the 12 steps which should be followed during the implementation process of this management strategy, which is intended to create more ethical and socially responsible business activity. The Chair in Economic and Business Ethics at ICADE and the Ethics Journal have signed a cooperation agreement to work together on the promotion of Sustainable Development. First Dialog Conference in La Granja: Reflection on the role and validity of capital markets. The first Dialog Conference took place on 25 and 26 November at La Granja de San Ildefonso in Segovia. It was organized by the company Quierosalvarelmundohaciendomarketing and by IESE CBS with support from Forética, Global Market and the San Ildefonso-La Granja City Council. This first edition gathered experts from the academic sphere, CSR and the markets to talk about stock exchanges, the financial system and the possible improvements to its operation. The United Nations initiative aimed at promoting CSR in educational institutions was presented in Madrid on 25 November during a ceremony organized by the Global Compact in the IE Business School.
